April 2, Fineko/abc.Az. Last year, more than 7,000 citizens became victims of hackers in Azerbaijan. In 2023, Azerbaijan prevented activity of 186 fake domains similar to the websites of state institutions and blocked 1.416 million emails because of malicious information.
ABC.AZ reports that deputy head of the State Service for Special Communications & Information Security of Azerbaijan Allahveryan Ismayilov said about this during his speech at the conference "Digitalization of the criminal process: modern challenges & goals".
He added that during inspections in April of last year, 695 security-related breaches were identified on the websites of state institutions: "Last year, 1,162 cyber attacks on state institutions were prevented. By analyzing cyberattack attempts, our Service identified 1,162 special cyberattack indicators, blocking them on AzStateNet network and in the e-mail system. Also, during 2023, 911,430,000 malicious links, 7,464,500 e-documents with malicious content installed in end users through the central antivirus system and 103,650 through the sandbox protection system were blocked through new generation security equipment used over AzStateNet network. In addition, with the help of cyber intelligence capabilities, 186 fake domains were identified that mimic the domains of government agencies (gov.az), plans for hackers to use the names of government agencies in special cyber attacks have been prevented, and hundreds of cyberattack attempts have been stopped."
