April 1, Fineko/abc.az. The Azerbaijani government invites Romanian investors to work in the Alat Free Economic Zone (FEZ), which will become the most profitable place for them after Romania.

ABC.AZ reports that Alat FEZ chairman of board Valeh Aleskerov stated about this at the 8th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Romania Joint Intergovernmental Commission, held in Baku.

"Starting from the 1st half of 2026, cargo terminals will be put into operation in the Alat FEZ. At the initial stage, 500,000 tons of cargo per year will be transported at these terminals, and in the future this volume will be increased to about 1.5 million tons. We are ready to evaluate any proposal, but we’ll give preference to investors who will engage in export-oriented production with high added value, using innovative technologies and approaches to work in accordance with the best international standards," he said.
