February 6, Fineko/abc.az. As of January 1, 2024, the number of employees in the country's economy, according to preliminary data, amounted to 1,741,800 people, of whom 899,100 people are employed in the public sector of the economy, and 842,700 people in the non-governmental sector.

ABC.AZ reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee that according to preliminary data for 2023, the average monthly nominal salary of employees in the country's economy increased by 11.2% versus the previous year and amounted to 933.8 manats. The average monthly nominal salary was higher in the mining industry, financial and insurance activities, professional, scientific and technical activities, as well as in the field of information & communications.

Of the employees, 19.1% are engaged in education, 18.6% in trade; vehicle repair, 13.0% - industry, 8.4% - health & social services, 6.5% - construction, 6.4% - public administration and defense; social security, 4.3% - transport and warehousing, 3.7% - professional, scientific and technical activity, 3.4% - agriculture, forestry and fishing, 2.1% - financial & insurance activity, and 14.5% - other sectors of the economy.
