January 17, Fineko/abc.az. The largest Japanese shipping companies are completely suspending shipments across the Red Sea in connection with aggravation of the situation in the region, ABC.AZ reports, referring to TV channel NHK.
The relevant decision was made by NYK Line, Mitsui OSK Lines and Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha. So far, they have limited only shipments to ships associated with Israel, but now all other ships will be suspended.
The route through the Cape of Good Hope in southern Africa will be used as an alternative route, which will lead to longer delivery times and higher transportation costs.
Earlier, Japanese company Suzuki announced that it would suspend the operation of its assembly plant in Hungary for a week due to a violation of the supply of components, including engines, from Japan in connection with the situation in the Red Sea.
