December 7, Fineko/abc.az. There has been a sharp increase in freight turnover by rail between Azerbaijan and China, ABC.AZ quotes Rovshan Rustamov, the chairman of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC.

Today, the chairman met with the head of the delegation of state corporation Chinese Railways Huang Xin. Possible prospects for bilateral cooperation and innovations implemented in the railway sector of both countries were discussed at the meeting.

Rustamov spoke about the expanding transport and logistics capabilities of our country, active participation in international transport corridors, and steps to be taken towards increasing freight transportation by rail. He noted that this year, compared with the 2022 same term, import shipments with China grew by 549%, and export shipments by 331%. In general, compared with the 2022 relevant period, freight transportation by rail between the two countries grew by 47%.
