October 26, Fineko/abc.az. The Electronic Security Service under the Ministry of Digital Development & Transport is negotiating with the company about the incorrect assignment of Azerbaijani geographical names on Google Maps.
ABC.AZ reports that Service’s head Samir Rasulov told about this to journalists.
"Work is underway to delete data that does not correspond to reality. In Google Maps, several people can apply, mark a place and give it any name. These are the technical capabilities of the platform. We are conducting discussions in this direction. If we find places on the map that do not correspond to reality, moments of provocative nature, we appeal for the appropriate reason, it is reported that it is necessary to delete and then these items are deleted. These features are the same for all countries, for all users. If citizens get to such places, they can contact us. We will take the necessary measures," he said.
