October 20, Fineko/abc.az. The new Draft Law on Aviation in Azerbaijan further strengthens the goals of security, simplification and transparency of issuing permits, creating equal opportunities for all and ensuring fair competition.
ABC.AZ reports that Tair Mirkishili, the chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Economic Policy, Industry & Entrepreneurship, stated about this at today's plenary session of the parliament.
He noted that the draft defines the main goal of the state in the field of aviation and adds new provisions to the tasks of the state.
"The current Law on Aviation was passed in 2005. Large technological innovations taking place in the field of aviation over the past 18 years have necessitated extensive regulation in this area and the adoption of a new law. The aviation industry is one of the fastest growing, changing industries in the modern world. Development of aviation technologies increases the power of the state both economically and from angle of security.
Azerbaijan proved this to the whole world in 2020. Currently, flights to 33 countries in 66 directions are operated from Baku. In addition to Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC (AZAL), passengers are transported by 39 foreign airlines, 17 of which are low-budget. 40% of passengers account for AZAL and 60% for foreign airlines,” he added.
