October 19, Fineko/abc.az. Finnish telecommunications equipment manufacturer Nokia is considering the matter of cutting 16% of its employees.
ABC.AZ reports that the company is considering the possibility of implementing this as part of a cost reduction program.
In general, Nokia expects to reduce costs by 0.8-1.2 billion euro by the end of 2026, including the reduction of 9,000 -14,000 employees from the current 86,000 people.
"The most difficult decisions are those that affect our employees. Nokia has extremely talented people, and we will support everyone who has been affected by this process," said Pekka Lundmark, president and CEO of the company.
Lundmark told Reuters that Nokia's sales in the North American market fell 40% in the third quarter.
