October 18, Fineko/abc.az. The question that has been of interest to everyone for a long time has been clearly raised in parliament. So, unlike neighboring countries, foreign airlines do not arrive in Azerbaijan, which, of course, cannot but worry people.
ABC.AZ reports that during the discussion of the new Draft Law on Aviation at a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Economic Policy, Industry & Entrepreneurship, Deputy Minister of Digital Development & Transport Rahman Gumbatov noted that in general, work is underway in the region to develop airports, including Gabala and Zangilan.
"One by one, we are sending out invitations to all large airlines. We are not waiting for companies to come to Azerbaijan, but we are starting negotiations with them to create conditions related to flights. As for why they are not interested in coming to our country, this is primarily due to the tourist flow. All airlines around the world, including AZAL, monitor passenger traffic between two points through a special system before opening a new flight. If there is no flow, it is unprofitable to have flights in such directions. Another reason for this is linked with the visa regime of the countries. If there is visa-free regime there and back, growth of passengers will also be significant, which, in turn, will affect prices. Today we invite foreign airlines, including low–cost airlines, to Azerbaijan so that Azerbaijani citizens have various options, at least in terms of price and level of service," the deputy minister stressed.
