ABC.AZ reports that this is stated in the address of President Ilham Aliyev to the participants of the 27th meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization.

"Taking into account the growing demand for cargo transportation via East-West route, we aim to increase cargo transported by Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway from 1 million tons to 5 million tons. An agreement was also reached with Iran on construction of a road and railway that will provide access to the NAR through Iran. Azerbaijan is also actively working to further expand capacity of North-South transport corridor," the head of state said.
