July 4, Fineko/abc.az. The introduction of new technologies and improvement of the production process will halve the cost, size and weight of the latest batteries for electric vehicles.
ABC.AZ reports that the Financial Times informs about this, quoting Keiji Kaita, the president of Toyota Carbon Neutrality Advanced Engineering Development Center.
"In the production of both our liquid and solid-state batteries, we strive to radically change the fact that modern batteries are too large, heavy and expensive. We’ll strive to halve all these shortcomings," Kaita said.
He added that by improving the production technology, solid-state batteries can become cheaper than liquid-based lithium-ion batteries, and the company has all the possibilities to start mass production of such batteries for electric vehicles by 2027 or 2028.
