A government agency that gives neither work nor hope for future – 300,000 unemployed in country

June 1, Fineko/abc.az. A few days ago, State Employment Agency’s chairman of board Mustafa Abbasbeyli said that there are nearly 300,000 unemployed people in Azerbaijan. Of course, this is the official figure.

Non-official calculation is a troublesome matter. The official figures are also doubtful, since they cannot be convincing if they were obtained as a result of calculations by the State Statistics Committee. The reason often lies in the fact that from time to time there are reports in the local press that the SSC statistics is inaccurate.

The publication of inaccurate information, inflated figures has already caused distrust of the information disseminated by the agency.

Therefore, the question of whether what Abbasbeyli said is true also remains open. This is also confirmed by the excessive number of unemployed in districts of Azerbaijan.

If one of the causes for the large number of unemployed is the lack of jobs in country’s districts, then another cause is that Employment Agency’s relations in the field with factories, companies, workshops, state institutions are not properly established, cannot be coordinated.

That is, if the Agency could establish healthier, coordinated relations with the listed institutions on the ground, including in Baku, there would be no unemployed in the country, and even the institutions themselves would require employees from the Agency.

For example, in the districts, applicants who have applied to the Agency are either escorted out or forced to wait for months.

But those unemployed who are sent to wait queue to workshops and enterprises in the area themselves, and it turns out that there are actually jobs there. At this point, it becomes clear that there are actually jobs, although there are few of them. But due to the fact that the agency cannot properly organize its work, both unemployment and hopelessness are growing.

But if the Agency is able to establish its work, there will not be 300,000 unemployed in the country, on the contrary, the number of jobs will grow day by day. Both the reputation of the organization and the amount of people's money will grow.
