May 16, Fineko/abc.az. The first unmanned bus has been launched in Scotland.
ABC.AZ reports with reference to the foreign press that although these buses are officially called unmanned, in fact they still have a crew of two people. One of them will monitor the road and signs, and the other will be engaged in ticket sales and assistance to passengers.
The driverless route will carry passengers from Edinburgh to Fife County, which is located on the other side of the Firth of Forth. The fleet of five single-deck buses is capable of transporting up to 10,000 people per week. Buses will run strictly along the route laid down in the on-board computer with length of 21 km and at speed not exceeding 75 km/h.
