May 10, Fineko/abc.az. Saudi Arabia is considering the possibility of creating an international English-language news channel to compete with Qatari TV channel Al Jazeera and expand its influence in the world media.

ABC.AZ reports with reference to the Financial Times, a Saudi research & media group has started developing the project as commercially viable.

According to expert Claire Enders, Riyadh is following Qatar's media strategy, including the acquisition of sports broadcasting rights, and is effectively using the same scenario.

"Saudi Arabia has unlimited resources to invest in a similar media structure to increase its influence in the world," Enders added.
