April 11, Fineko/abc.az. Drivers are rewarded for refusing to travel during rush hours in order to reduce the load on traffic in the French city of Lille, as part of Ecobonus campaign.
ABC.AZ reports that traffic cameras and a smartphone app will monitor compliance with the conditions.
From 07:00 to 09:00 and from 16:30 to 18:30, huge traffic jams occur on the roads of the city of Lille. Local authorities tried to deal with them using various methods, but they were not effective enough.
Now the authorities are launching Ecobonus campaign, in which drivers will receive 2 euro each for refusing to travel during rush hours on motorways. It starts in September.
5,000 drivers will take part in the action first. After a while, more people will be able to receive rewards.
