April 10, Fineko/abc.az. The X5 Group retailer has shut down the operation of hypermarket chain Karusel, ABC.AZ reports, referring to the company.
"X5 Group, the leading grocery retail company in Russia, announces the completion of transformation of Karusel hypermarket chain. For several years, the company has consistently reduced the number of stores in the chain, the last hypermarket under the Karusel brand ceased its work at the end of this February, by the beginning of April, the work of the format was fully completed," the company says.
At the end of September 2019, X5 operated 91 Karusel hypermarkets. As a result of transformation process, more than 40 hypermarkets were transferred under the management of Perekrestok retail chain, currently they operate as supermarkets. Some objects are used for new applications inside X5 - for example, as darkstores of online hypermarket Vprok.ru, the rest were sold or closed.
