June 8, Fineko/abc.az. The Azerbaijan Association of Producers & Exporters of Chicken Meat & Eggs (APEPEA) has appealed to the citizens of the country with a request to exercise caution regarding chicken meat massively offered in the country's markets, ABC.AZ was informed at APEPEA.
This chicken meat is imported to our country from Belarus and is offered in retail outlets at a very low price – 3-3.5 manats per kg. Usually it is noted on them that this is “Belarusian farm chicken”, and the second-rate quality of the product is indicated.
The expression "farm chicken" is considered a sign of the highest quality chicken meat in Azerbaijan. In this case, there is a contradiction between the expressions “farm chicken” and “2nd grade meat".
The answer to the question is obvious: chickens brought from Belarus are laying hens cut off from eggs. As their meat has very low nutritional value, the manufacturer writes: “2nd grade". And businessmen, in order to distract attention from this inscription, write “Belarusian farm chicken" in large letters.
Contrary to the legislation of the country, chickens are imported from Belarus in large packages, frozen, and in Azerbaijan they are packed again.
