Customers complain that they can't buy flour in bags

February 15, Fineko/abc.az. In recent days, buyers have been complaining that flour is sold in limited quantities in the markets, or rather, it is impossible to buy flour in bags. The issue has already been widely discussed in social networks. Some markets justify this by the likely increase in prices for flour and wheat. Another version is the situation that arose due to tensions in Russia's relations with Ukraine, our main importer of wheat.

ABC.AZ reports that commenting on this topic, expert economist Natig Jafarli emphasized that the share of foreign countries, in particular Russia, is large in the supply of flour and wheat to Azerbaijan: "Azerbaijan annually imports about 70,000-80,000 tons of wheat from Russia. And in general, the country's annual demand for wheat is 1.8 million tons. We pay for 300,000-400,000 tons of this at the expense of internal resources. In this sense, we can say that the rise in prices for wheat and flour abroad affects the domestic market. Currently, grain prices on the world market are expected to rise again. This is linked with both Ukrainian-Russian tensions and the drought in Canada. As you know, Canada is also a country that is considered the largest grain producer in the world. It is quite possible that the current Ukrainian-Russian tensions have led to the adoption of precautionary measures in the domestic market."
