February 9, Fineko/abc.az. The cargo transportation through the Baku International Commercial Sea Port CJSC (Baku Port) in 2021 has been disclosed.
ABC.AZ reports that certain changes were observed in the directions of movement along international transport routes in 2021, due to further border restrictions imposed within the COVID-19 pandemic.
Decline in the transportation of heavy trucks by 8.8% was registered. 39,431 vehicles (TIR) were transported through the Baku port, of which 23,476 (59.5%) trucks were via the Baku-Turkmenbashi-Baku route, and 15,955 (40.5%) trucks were via the Baku-Kuryk-Baku route.
At that, there was decline of 18.7% in the transshipment of wagons in the ferry terminal. Last year, the number of wagons transported through the Baku port amounted to 30,426, of which 20,867 in the direction of Baku-Turkmenbashi-Baku (68.6%) and 9,559 wagons in the direction of Baku - Kuryk/Aktau - Baku (31.4%).
Despite the decrease last year in the transportation of heavy vehicles (TIR) compared with 2020, a 17% increase was observed compared with 2019.
