September 2, Fineko/abc.az. This year, Azerbaijan has increased the price indices for black tea purchased from abroad, as well as the volume of imports.
The import of black tea from abroad in the first half of 2021 amounted to 6,507 tons, exceeding the indicator of 2020 by 9%. The country spent $25.46 million on the purchase of imported black tea.
86.5% of tea was imported from the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka sold 5,626. 5 tons of black tea for $22.96 million to Azerbaijan (5,269.3 tons for $20.94 million for 1st half of 2020).
This means that Azerbaijan imported black tea at $3.97 per kilogram in 2020, and in 2021 – at $4.08 per kilogram. The price increase was 3%.
