Gold deposits discovered in Turkey

June 11, Fineko/abc.az. Gold reserves worth more than a billion US dollars have been discovered in the east of Turkey.

ABC.AZ reports this was announced by Turkish Minister of Industry & Technology Mustafa Varank at the opening of the new mine. The minister conducted broadcast of the ceremony on Twitter.

According to Varank, in the area of village Mollakara in Agra province, gold mining company Koza Altin found large deposits of non-ferrous metals. The new mine has discovered reserves of 20 tons of gold worth 1.2 billion US dollars and 3.5 tons of silver worth 2.8 million US dollars, the minister specified.

The volume of investments in gold mining in Turkey has increased by a quarter over the past decade. In 2020, the country produced 42 tons of precious metal from 18 mines, and in 2021, Turkish mining companies set a target of 45 tons. According to the government's forecast, the annual production level will reach 100 tons in the next five years.
