March 4, Fineko/abc.az. The coronavirus epidemic has not bypassed the market of children's toys imported from China.
So, ABC.AZ conducted research in wholesale and retail stores of children's toys that have been operating for a long time in the area around the railway station.
The study that covered about 10 stores in the specified territory showed that the prices of toys from China fell by 30%. Sellers say that toys and goods for children that were previously purchased for 30 manats are now offered to buyers for 22 or 20 manats. For example, if earlier a small piano for a child was sold for 50 manats, now it costs 35 manats. Sellers say that, along with prices, purchasing power has also decreased.
"Previously, stores were full of customers. Now, as you can see, one or two people come to a store once every half an hour. They look at goods, don’t buy anything, and leave. Many are afraid of the virus. They think that if goods came from China, it means that they are infected with virus. But, although we’ve repeatedly told them that we brought these products long before the virus spread, no one buys toys. Now the hope remains for overcoming the panic that has arisen in the society in connection with the virus. If the psychological fear of people associated with the virus disappears, perhaps our sales can be restored," according to sellers.
