April 2, Fineko/abc.az. The State Statistics Committee reports that as of 1 February 2019 the population of Azerbaijan has increased since the beginning of the year by 6,980 people or 0.1% and reached 9.988 million people.

52.8% of the total population are residents of cities, 47.2% are rural residents, 49.9% males and 50.1% females. Currently, there are 1,003 women per 1,000 men. In January, the country registered 5,432 deaths and the death rate per 1,000 was 6.5.
