European Equities Rise as Crude Slide and AI Surge Boost Market Sentiment

14:51 - 23.09.2026

September 23, Fineko/abc.az. European stock markets advanced as falling crude oil prices and renewed optimism surrounding artificial intelligence (AI) technologies lifted investor sentiment.

The pan-European STOXX 600 index rose 0.17% to 643.86 points, supported by a sixth consecutive session of declines in oil prices. International benchmark Brent crude traded down at $98.83 per barrel, holding below the key $100 threshold on hopes of diplomatic progress in the Middle East.

The global technology rally gained traction following strong consumer adoption of Meta’s newly released AI agent, "Muse," which bolstered demand across the semiconductor and hardware supply chains. While lower energy costs have provided relief against inflationary pressures, analysts note that markets remain cautious amid broader monetary policy signals from central banks regarding elevated interest rates.
