September 16, Fineko/abc.az. Consumer price inflation in the United Kingdom accelerated on both a monthly and annual basis in August. Annual inflation rose to 3.1 percent from 2.9 percent in July, matching consensus estimates from economists polled by Bloomberg.

On a monthly basis, inflation increased to 0.5 percent, up from 0.3 percent in the previous month.

Core annual inflation came in at 2.6 percent, aligning with market forecasts. Meanwhile, factory gate prices (producer output prices) rose by 3.7 percent year-on-year, topping the consensus expectation of 3.3 percent.
