August 7, Fineko/abc.az. Under a proposed agreement negotiated with Oman, Iran is seeking to ban US and Israeli vessels from transiting the Strait of Hormuz and demand compensation from "hostile nations" prior to granting transit permission.

These demands have introduced a new point of contention in negotiations aimed at reopening one of the world's most vital energy corridors.

The United States continues to advocate for a return to unrestricted passage without mandatory permits or fees. Nevertheless, US President Donald Trump responded briefly with "It's going well" when asked by reporters about the progress of the talks.

The draft proposal currently under review by the Iranian parliament includes transit bans on US and Israeli shipping alongside a new fee structure covering environmental and insurance services. Meanwhile, Iran's Fars news agency cited a source claiming that Iranian naval forces struck "hostile targets" at the entrance of the strait, though further details were not disclosed.
