07:00 - 7.08.2026

August 7, Fineko/abc.az. US private equity firm Apollo Global Management has agreed to acquire European budget airline easyJet in a transaction valuing the carrier at £5.7 billion (approximately $7.7 billion).

The recommended deal follows the withdrawal of a competing takeover bid by Castlelake.

Under the terms of the agreement, Apollo will pay £7.15 per share in cash, a proposal backed by easyJet's board of directors and founder Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou. The acquisition is expected to close in the first quarter of 2027, subject to regulatory and shareholder approvals. Apollo signaled its commitment to supporting easyJet's growth and strengthening its fleet footprint across European markets.
