August 5, Fineko/abc.az. Consumer goods giant Procter & Gamble (P&G) has agreed to acquire nutritional supplement manufacturer Thorne for $3.8 billion as part of its strategy to expand its presence in the growing health and wellness market.

P&G Chief Executive Officer Shailesh Jejurikar stated that the acquisition responds to surging consumer demand for preventive healthcare and wellness products. P&G’s health portfolio already features brands such as New Chapter, Metamucil, and Align Probiotic.

Founded in 1984, Thorne was taken private in 2023 by investment firm L Catterton in a $680 million deal. The current sale is expected to net L Catterton over $3 billion in return on investment. Following the announcement, P&G shares rose by approximately 1%.
