July 31, Fineko/abc.az. Sabiha Gökçen International Airport was recognized as the fastest-growing among major European airports in the first half of 2026 by ACI Europe. Passenger traffic increased by 6.4%, significantly exceeding the average European rate (+2.6%) and the dynamics in Turkey (+2.8%).

Top 5 also included the airports of Barcelona (+4.4%), Madrid (+4.2%), Istanbul Airport (+1.6%) and Rome Fiumicino (+0.3%). At the same time, the overall growth of passenger traffic in Europe slowed down in the second quarter.
