July 29, Fineko/abc.az. Major Wall Street institutions have rolled out structured financial products designed to hedge retail and institutional investors against downside risk following a sharp post-IPO decline in SpaceX shares.
At least five financial firms, including Morgan Stanley and Marex Group, have filed applications to issue structured notes that cap potential share-price losses by up to 50%. Having fallen more than 40% from its post-IPO peak, SpaceX stock has been characterized by intense trading volume and extreme price volatility.
These structured notes blend fixed-income security features with options derivative strategies, offering downside capital buffers in exchange for capped upside performance:
Marex 9-Month Protection Note: Offers investors a fixed payout of at least 1.8% monthly regardless of underlying stock movement.
Principal Protection: Capital is protected against pullbacks of up to 35% at maturity, with investors assuming full market risk only if losses exceed that threshold.
