July 24, Fineko/abc.az. The European Commission has reached a preliminary conclusion that TikTok is in breach of the EU's Digital Services Act (DSA) regarding the protection of minors. According to the regulator, the platform's default account settings fail to provide adequate security, exposing young users to risks of predatory behavior, unwanted contact, and cyberbullying.

The EU regulator demands that TikTok strengthen minor account privacy by ensuring that content published by underage users is, by default, accessible only to approved followers rather than the global public. If the preliminary findings are confirmed following TikTok's defense, the company faces potential fines of up to 6% of its global annual turnover. In response, TikTok stated its commitment to working cooperatively with European authorities.
