July 9, Fineko/abc.az. The Armenian government has approved the payment of 3.148 billion drams (approx. $8.55 million) in subsidies to exporters of agricultural products, food and beverages to the European Union.

Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan says that the funds are necessary to fulfill financial obligations to exporters under the support program adopted for the diversification of export markets.

In June, Armenian companies supplied 780 tons of peppers, 200 tons of tomatoes, 109 tons of strawberries, about 3,000 tons of apricots, 1,400 tons of cherries, as well as mineral water and bottled wine, to the EU.

Deputy PM Mher Grigoryan noted that subsidies for some priority products may become permanent, although their volumes will be lower than the current ones.
