July 8, Fineko/abc.az. According to the updated data from the global Traffic Index by Country 2026 ranking by the Numbeo portal, Nigeria has topped the list of countries with the heaviest traffic congestion, where the average one-way commute time reaches 63.8 minutes.

In post-Soviet countries, this figure is significantly lower, varying between 20 and 40 minutes: for instance, the average travel time stands at around 43.3 minutes in Russia, 40.6 minutes in Azerbaijan (approximately 39.9 minutes in Baku), 35.9 minutes in Kazakhstan, 31.3 minutes in Belarus, and 29.3 minutes in Armenia. Meanwhile, experts note that in nations with vast territories and large megacities, such as Russia, the average index can differ substantially depending on the specific city.
