July 8, Fineko/abc.az. Over Jan-Jun 2026, in Azerbaijan, foreign citizens were refunded VAT for 4.36 million manats from the State Budget for goods purchased by them for personal consumption within the Tax Free system (527,700 manats, or 10.8% less versus Jan-Jun 2025 - 4.89 million manats), the State Tax Service informs.

The Tax Free system provides foreign citizens arriving in Azerbaijan with the opportunity to return a portion of the VAT paid on goods bought in the country for personal use. For this, purchases must be made at retail outlets that are connected to the Tax Free system, and the goods and necessary documents must be presented to the customs authorities upon departure from the country. After customs confirmation, the VAT amount is refunded in accordance with the established procedure to the buyer's bank card or other payment method.
