July 7, Fineko/abc.az. Freelancers and digital nomads will be registered in Azerbaijan by tax authorities
The draft amendments to the Tax Code, discussed at today's parliamentary session, say that after registering by the tax authority, registering as a resident of an industrial or technological park and obtaining a registration certificate, freelancers and digital nomads will be able to carry out activities in the country (receive income from foreign sources), as well as enjoy tax benefits and exemptions under the Tax Code.
A freelancer is an individual who is a resident of an industrial or technology park and who, without employing employees, renders services or performs work in the fields of digital technologies, including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and innovation, on a paid basis, based on a civil law contract. A digital nomad is a foreigner or a stateless person who works remotely in the fields of digital technologies, AI, cybersecurity, and innovations with the use of ICT and earns income from foreign sources.
After discussions, the bill was put to a vote and passed in the first reading.
