June 30, Fineko/abc.az. The import of goods into the country that do not meet the mandatory requirements aimed at protecting the interests of the state is prevented.

ABC.AZ reports that this has been reflected in the proposed amendments to the Customs Code, discussed at today’s meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Economic Policy, Industry & Entrepreneurship.

The proposed bill envisages provision of a certificate of conformity, a declaration of conformity, and recognized documents of conformity of foreign origin for non-food consumer goods imported into the country, confirming their compliance with the requirements of technical regulations for safety indicators.

According to the draft, by ensuring that the regime applied to non-food consumer goods imported into Azerbaijan is the same as the regime applied to similar goods of local or other foreign origin, the competitive environment will be preserved, local production will be supported, and the import of goods that do not meet the technical regulations for import, which are mandatory requirements aimed at protecting people's lives or health, the environment, property, and the interests of the state, will be prevented.
