June 22, Fineko/abc.az. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced his resignation from the posts of head of government and leader of the Labour Party. He will remain in the interim role until a new leader is elected in September.

Successor: Andy Burnham is considered the undisputed leading contender to be the next Prime Minister of the UK.

Internal split: Disputes have begun within the party over future appointments - the left wing is unhappy with Home Secretary Shabana Mahmoud's tough stance on migration and opposes Ed Miliband's candidacy for Chancellor of the Exchequer.
