June 19, Fineko/abc.az. Hyundai Motor plans to buy out SoftBank's remaining 9.65% stake in Boston Dynamics for $325 million to make the American robotics developer its fully owned subsidiary, ABC.AZ informs, referring to Maeil Business Newspaper (South Korea).
According to the newspaper, the Board of Directors of Hyundai Motor may approve the deal at a meeting on June 22.
SoftBank has reportedly notified Hyundai of its intention to use the option provided for in the agreement to sell the remaining stake in Boston Dynamics. This right was secured when selling a controlling stake in a robotics company to a Korean automaker.
Currently, Hyundai Motor Group, including Chairman of the Board of Directors Yison Chun, as well as Hyundai Motor, Kia, Hyundai Mobis and Hyundai Glovis, already controls more than 90% of Boston Dynamics.
