Cargo transportation of ships in Azerbaijan drops by 13%

June 12, Fineko/abc.az. The volume of goods transported by sea in Azerbaijan for Jan-Mar 2026 amounted to 1.927 million tons (12.8% less against Jan-Mar 2025).

ABC.AZ reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee that most of the cargo was transported via external links (1.74 million tons), export cargo reached 86,100 tons, import cargo - 60,400 tons, transit cargo - 1.244 million tons. On the coastal lines, the cargo volume totaled 187,500 tons and showed a rise of 3.4-fold against Jan-Mar 2025.

In the overall volume of goods transported, oil and petroleum products decreased by 885,200 tons (by 14.4% year-on-year), while other goods totaled 1.42 million tons (down 11.3% year-on-year). Cargo turnover reached 2.734 billion tons-km, a drop of 12.7% in annual terms. In particular, the turnover of export cargo increased by 217.3%, import cargo - by 125.1%, and transit cargo - decreased by 30.1%.

Revenue from cargo transportation totaled 57.382 million manats, a drop of 7.1% compared to last year. Revenues from cargo transportation via coastal connections grew 2.6-fold up to 3.275 million manats.
