Azerbaijan to export food products to China

June 12, Fineko/abc.az. As part of a working visit to the People's Republic of China (PRC), a delegation led by Goshgar Tahmazli, the chairman of the Food Safety Agency of Azerbaijan (AQTA), met with the leadership of the General Administration of Customs of China (GAC).

ABC.AZ reports that at the meeting, the sides expressed satisfaction with improvement of relationships between Azerbaijan and China to the level of comprehensive strategic partnership and highly appreciated two countries’ cooperation in the field of food security. It was noted that AQTA and the GAC regularly cooperate in the field of food safety, animal and plant health. During the meeting, agreements were reached on topical issues related to the further expansion of Azerbaijan's access to the Chinese agricultural and food market, development of import and export operations, introduction of digital solutions, mutual recognition of certification, as well as promotion of safe and efficient trade. Then Tahmazli and GAC’s minister Sun Meijun signed official documents on cooperation between the two institutions.

These are the following documents: "Protocol between the Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the General Customs Administration of the People's Republic of China on inspection and quarantine requirements for the export of aquatic products of wild origin to China", "Protocol between the Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the General Customs Administration of the People's Republic of China on Inspection and Quarantine Requirements for export of aquatic environment products to China, farmed in aquaculture" and "Protocol between the Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the General Customs Administration of the People's Republic of China on inspection, quarantine and food safety requirements for poultry meat exports to China".

The signed documents will make important contribution to the «State Program for development of production & processing of agricultural, fishing and aquaculture products in Azerbaijan 2026-2030", approved by the Azerbaijani President.
