Statistics Committee: Food prices fell in Azerbaijan last month

June 11, Fineko/abc.az. This May, consumer prices for food, alcoholic beverages and tobacco products in Azerbaijan decreased by 0.1% compared to April, and increased by 6.6% against May 2025.

ABC.AZ informs that according to the State Statistics Committee, buckwheat groats, beef and lamb, sausages, cheese, cottage cheese, table margarine, sunflower and corn oils, lemons, apples, kiwis, white cabbage, broccoli, greens, string beans, beets, onions, carbonated and non-carbonated water. At the same time, fresh fish, eggs, bananas, strawberries, cucumbers, tomatoes, sweet peppers, eggplants, carrots, garlic and potatoes fell in price. No major changes have been recorded in the prices of other food products.

In addition, last month consumer prices for non-food products grew by 0.1% compared to the previous month and by 3.9% compared to May 2025. During the month, paints, plastic pipes, detergents and personal hygiene items rose in price, while jewelry fell in price. There have been no major changes in the prices of other non-food products.

The increase in prices for paid services rendered to the population in May was 0.2% compared to April and 5.7% compared to May 2025. During the month, international passenger transportation services by air increased in price, while prices for other paid services did not change significantly.

Over Jan-May 2026, consumer prices increased by 5.6% compared to Jan-May 2025, including for food, alcoholic beverages and tobacco products by 6.7%, for non-food products by 3.7%, for paid services to the public by 5.7%.

The annual price increase compared to May 2025 was 5.6%, and over the past month (compared to April), a decrease of 0.1% was recorded.
