June 11, Fineko/abc.az. The cargo airport, which is being built on the territory of the Alat Free Economic Zone, is scheduled to be put into operation next year.

ABC.AZ reports that Alat FEZ Chairman of Board Valeh Aleskerov said this at the event “Technovation – Science & Innovations for Sustainable Economic Transformation”, held in Baku.

He added that construction of the cargo airport began in March 2024. This will be Azerbaijan's first airport located in the territory of the FEZ.

Aleskerov said that the airport will serve to attract high-tech companies and expand the logistics capabilities of the zone.

He added that not only tax and customs privileges are important for attracting investors, but also ready-made infrastructure, fast services and affordable logistics opportunities.
