May 20, Fineko/abc.az. Meta Platforms has suggested for AI competitors, including OpenAI, the free access to WhatsApp in Europe, followed by the introduction of fees after reaching the message limit, ABC.AZ reports, referring to Reuters.

The initiative was presented to the European Commission amid an antimonopoly investigation. The regulator is considering obliging Meta to open access to WhatsApp for AI bots in order to maintain competition in the market.

According to the proposal, after exceeding the API usage limit, AI bot developers will have to pay. Meta has already temporarily granted free access to the WhatsApp API for one month as part of negotiations with the EU.
