In Azerbaijan, the population increased by 0.1%

May 19, Fineko/abc.az. From January to March 2026, the population increased by 5,814 people, or 0.1%, up to 10,268,165 people as of April 1, 2026.

ABC.AZ reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee that in the first 3 months of this year, 20,362 newborns were registered by the district (city) registration departments of the Ministry of Justice, and compared to the same term in 2025, this figure per 1,000 population decreased from 8.8 to 8.0.

Of the children born, 53.8% were boys, and 46.2% were girls. Of the children born, 698 were twins and 27 - triplets. The birth rate per 1,000 population was higher than the national rate (8.0) in Eastern Zangezur (10.3), Nagorno-Shirvan (10.2), Karabakh (10.1), Lankaran-Astara (10.0), Mil-Mugan (9.3), Shirvan-Salyan (9.0), Central Aran (8.9), Gazakh-Tovuz (8,6), Guba-Khachmaz (8,5) economic districts.
