May 19, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan imported 15,531 tons of meat worth $37.3 million during the first four months of 2026.

According to the State Customs Committee, cited by ABC.AZ, compared with the same period of 2025, meat imports decreased by 1,131 tons, or 6.8%, while their value increased by $3.283 million, or 9.7%.

For comparison, Azerbaijan imported 16,662 tons of meat worth $34 million in January–April 2025.

The average customs value of imported meat amounted to $2.4 (AZN 4.1) per kilogram in January–April 2026. This is $0.35 (60 gapigs), or 17.1%, higher than in the corresponding period of the previous year.

In January–April 2025, the average price of imported meat stood at $2.05 (AZN 3.5) per kilogram.

According to official data, the current retail price of locally produced meat is AZN 16–17 per kilogram, while market observations indicate prices ranging from AZN 20 to 22 per kilogram.
