May 18, Fineko/abc.az. Chinese electric car manufacturer Xpeng has announced the start of mass production of its first robotaxi in Guangzhou, ABC.AZ reports, referring to Reuters.

The company plans to fully switch to unmanned control by early 2027.

Rival Tesla is accelerating transition to self-driving cars and human-like robotics as competition intensifies in the world's largest automotive market.

The new robotaxi, built on Xpeng's GX platform, is China's first mass-produced model of a robotaxi developed entirely using proprietary technologies.

Xpeng plans to launch pilot operations for the operation of robotaxis in the second half of the year.

The company can produce hundreds to thousands of robotaxis over the next 12-18 months.
