Iran explains passage of a Japanese tanker through Strait of Hormuz

April 29, Fineko/abc.az. The Iranian Embassy in Japan stated that Tehran allowed Japanese tanker Idemitsu Maru to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, expressing gratitude for the events of 1953, when Japanese company Idemitsu, despite the embargo, delivered Iranian oil to Japan.

ABC.AZ infors that Tokyo stressed that this step "symbolizes the long-standing friendship between the two countries". The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that ships bound for Japan will be able to pass through the Strait.
