April 27, Fineko/abc.az. Electricity demand in India has reached a historic high because of the intense heat: on April 25, peak consumption rose to 256 GW, surpassing the previous record of 252 GW.
ABC.AZ informs that growth is probably due to the massive use of air conditioners amid extreme temperatures reaching 46.9°C. Despite the development of solar energy, the country is facing shortage of power in the evening hours - up to 3.5-4 GW, which increases the load on the energy system and stimulates the development of alternative sources of basic generation.
