Kazakhstan bans egg import for six months

15:53 - 22.04.2026

April 22, Fineko/abc.az. The Ministry of Agriculture has imposed a ban on the import of chicken eggs in Kazakhstan from abroad (including from the EAEU countries) by all means of transport.

ABC.AZ informs that the restrictions will be in effect for six months.

An exception was made only for transit traffic.

The Ministry explains the restrictive measures by the need to support local agricultural producers and protect the domestic market.

Earlier, Kazakhstan has repeatedly imposed a ban on the import of eggs, the last time in December 2025 for one-month period.

According to the Ministry, local poultry farms meet the needs of Kazakhstan's domestic market in chicken eggs by 98%.

In 2025, they produced over 4.568 billion eggs (107 million eggs, or 2.4% more than a year earlier).
