April 17, Fineko/abc.az. Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Alen Simonyan called on Turkey to join the initiative to strengthen peace in the region and expressed readiness to develop relations between Yerevan and Ankara.
ABC.AZ informs that according to Simonyan, after the agreement between Armenia, Azerbaijan and the U.S. in 2025, peace was established in the region, and now Armenia is proposing to expand the format of cooperation to include Turkey.
Simonyan declared his readiness to deepen bilateral relations and promote the idea of a "canvas of peace".
Armenia and Turkey do not have diplomatic relations, despite sharing a common border. The normalization attempt in 2009 failed due to non-standardized protocols. In 2021, special representatives were appointed, and in 2025, the parties confirmed the course towards gradual settlement and partial opening of the border.
